Managing charger firmware manually is error-prone and unscalable. Without a centralised tool, operators SSH into charger UIs one at a time, lose track of which version each unit is running, and have no audit trail when something goes wrong after an update. Regulatory compliance increasingly requires a demonstrable, traceable upgrade record per charger.

Register firmware images by uploading a binary or providing an external download URL. Attach vendor, model, target version, SHA-256 checksum, and optional signing certificate for OCPP 2.x secure firmware updates.

Smart Charger Discovery

Filter directly-connected chargers by brand/model, current firmware version, location, city, EVSE ID, online status, or exclude chargers already running the target version. Select all or cherry-pick individual units.

Bulk OTA Dispatch

One click dispatches an OCPP UpdateFirmware command to every selected charger simultaneously. Set a scheduled retrieve time, retry count, and retry interval. Works across OCPP 1.6, 2.0.1, and 2.1.

Real-Time Job Tracking

Version Audit Trail

Every charger upgrade records the version before, the target version, and the confirmed new version captured from the post-upgrade BootNotification. Immutable per-record timeline for compliance.

A built-in scheduled task (disabled by default) scans your entire fleet against the firmware catalog every Monday at 8 AM and emails a digest to the address you configure under System Settings → System Alerts → Firmware Upgrade Digest.

  • Structured HTML table: location, EVSE, vendor, model, current firmware, available firmware, and connectivity status
  • Email sent only when upgradeable chargers exist — no noise when everything is current
  • Zero-click setup: enable the alert in System Settings, enter a recipient email, activate the scheduled task

A CPO with 300 ABB TerraAC chargers needs to apply a critical security patch. They register the firmware, filter by vendor "ABB" and model "TerraAC", select all 300 units, and set a retrieve time for 02:00 to minimise disruption. The system dispatches UpdateFirmware to all chargers simultaneously. By morning, 297 are completed and 3 are flagged as failed for individual retry.
Compliance audit for an EV tender
A municipality requires proof that all charging points in a public tender run firmware ≥ 2.4.0. The operator opens the Firmware tab on each location, exports the per-charger version history, and submits the audit records — showing previous version, target version, confirmed version after boot, and timestamp — directly to the procurement authority.
