Plug and Charge (ISO 15118)

The ultimate driver experience - plug in and charging starts automatically.
No app, no card, no QR code. Just plug in.

The Problem

Why does this extension exist?

Plug and Charge (ISO 15118) is the future of EV charging. The vehicle and charger authenticate each other automatically using digital certificates. The driver plugs in and charging starts - no interaction required. Without ISO 15118 support, you are offering a 2015 experience in 2026.

The Solution

What you get

  • ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 support: both AC and DC Plug and Charge
  • Certificate management: issue, renew, and revoke vehicle certificates (Contract Certificates)
  • OCPP 2.0.1 integration: full ISO 15118 support requires OCPP 2.0.1 chargers
  • Billing integration: Plug and Charge sessions billed automatically to the driver account
  • Fleet Plug and Charge: assign vehicles to fleet accounts - no driver interaction required
  • Certificate provisioning: integrate with OEM certificate pools for automatic vehicle provisioning
  • Fallback support: if Plug and Charge fails, driver can still use app or RFID card
🎯 Who is this for?

CPOs with OCPP 2.0.1 chargers, fleet operators wanting zero-friction charging, and eMSPs whose drivers have ISO 15118-capable vehicles.

Use Cases

See it in action

How operators around the world can use this extension to solve real problems and grow their business.

Driver plugs in, charging starts in 3 seconds
A driver with a Plug and Charge enabled vehicle pulls up to an ISO 15118-capable charger. They plug in the cable. The vehicle and charger exchange certificates in 2.8 seconds. Charging starts automatically. The driver does not touch their phone or any button.
Fleet driver plugs in at any depot charger
A logistics company with 30 EVs enables Fleet Plug and Charge. Drivers plug in at any of the 20 depot chargers. Charging starts automatically and is billed to the correct driver account. No RFID cards, no app required.
New vehicle auto-enrolled via OEM portal
A driver buys a new Volkswagen ID.4. The OEM automatically provisions a Contract Certificate for their OASIS HUB account. The driver plugs in for the first time - Plug and Charge works immediately, no setup required.
Simulated Case Study

Fleet reduces charging session start time from 45 seconds to 3 seconds with Plug and Charge

A corporate fleet with 40 EVs was using RFID cards for charging authentication. Drivers frequently forgot their cards, leading to support calls and delayed departures. After enabling Plug and Charge, session start time dropped from 45 seconds (find card, tap, wait) to 3 seconds (plug in). Support calls related to authentication dropped by 94%. Driver satisfaction with the charging experience increased from 3.2 to 4.8 out of 5.

Real PKI — Live in Production

Full X.509 Certificate Management

No stubs, no always-accept. Every certificate operation is cryptographically real.

Per-Tenant Root CA

OASIS HUB auto-creates an EC P-256 Root CA for your tenant on first use. The CA certificate is downloadable for submission to V2G root pool operators (e.g. your V2G root pool operator).

Real CSR Signing

When a charger sends a SignCertificate request (OCPP 2.0.1 / 2.1), OASIS HUB validates the CSR signature and issues a real X.509 certificate — not a placeholder response.

Certificate Lifecycle Tracking

Every issued certificate is tracked: cert ID, serial number, subject, validity period, status (issued / revoked / expired). Revoke any certificate instantly via API or management UI.

ISO 15118 EV Certificate Tracking

Get15118EVCertificate requests from vehicles are tracked and forwarded. The external V2G backend (the external V2G root pool) provides the EXI-encoded contract certificate — OASIS HUB handles the OCPP plumbing.

OCPP 2.0.1 & 2.1 Native

Full support for SignCertificate and Get15118EVCertificate across OCPP 2.0.1 and 2.1. Certificates issued in milliseconds over the existing WebSocket connection.

V2G Root Pool Interop Roadmap

The next milestone is chaining to the V2G root pools for public Plug & Charge — provisioning contract certificates from OEM pools automatically. Timeline: when V2G root pool onboarding is complete.
